The making of cuendillar requires a high level of strength with earth, which is rare among women. It is quite likely her ability with making it is not that spectacular when compared to men, who are typically stronger than women with earth.
I envision Egwene's role at the last battle to be coordinating the various groups of channellers (as well as leading the Tower Aes Sedai of course.)
