the Tao and the Aes Sedai symbol.
There is no line, nor dots of the opposite colour in Jordan's symbol.
There is no need for the line, as his two halves cannot mix. A line surrounding the symbol would make this a symbol for Creation and suggest there's something outside, but Jordan doesn't have this line. The symbol specifically excludes any reference to the DO (which the AS didn't even know about before the Bore).
The dots in the tao are linked to harmony/balance of the opposites, they aren't relevant to Jordan's symbolism. It's the two halves as a whole that create this harmony, it doesn't come from a minor saidin/male aspect in the saidar/female aspect and vice-versa.
Jordan also inverted the colours, black for male and white for female.
