Ok let's look at this again,

Name of possible source: Artur Paendrag Tanreall

Name of character he is a type and shadow of: Arthur Pendragon

Arthur means: Long Bear.
Pendragon means: Head of the dragon.

Arthur's father Uther Pendraon's banner: Golden Dragon

Of course we know that Rand AL'THOR also draws symbolism from Mr sword in the stone. Does that mean that only he can have a dragon banner? No, of course not, several of the characters in the WoT world draw from the same sources. If fact even from Arthurian legends there were several people who have a dragon on their banner. Since a particular animal generally is put on a banner to claim a certain characteristic for it's owner, it seems inevitable that the dragon will come up multiple times.

So anyway...maybe thats why he would have a sword with the symbol of the person he symbolizes.
