Re: I'm not being very clear darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 18/06/2010 03:33:12 PM

Well then we disagree. Semirhage's proficiency as a Forsaken is not foretold by her acquisition of a third name. It's foretold by her sadism even prior to the DO's release.

Her 3rd name (as with the others who earned one) shows that they are exemplary individuals, highly skilled etc... the fact that so many of the Forsaken had earned the honorific shows that despite their natural personalities these people were able suppress that side of themselves.

There is absolutely no proof of that. What's more likely is that Mierin was the only one who took the trouble to take a name for herself, and while they were gradually making names for the fallen Aes Sedai, they realized she already had a nasty name for herself and it stuck. Once again, you can't claim that Lanfear was not one of the highest of the Forsaken or unworthy of anything. RJ himself said she was.

"Took the trouble to name herself"? That's funny since the others actions led to society giving them names based on said actions. Mierin's personality smacks of the sort of woman who would NEED to have the recognition of such a name. And her name is not nasty in anyway, in fact it's rather grandiose!

I'm not saying that she wasn't at the top of the FS, I'm saying she's the least interesting of them. I'm saying the reason she's in the top 6 is because she's personally powerful in the OP.

What do you mean he made mistakes?.

Over and over RJ portrayed her as a spoiled brat and rather unstable. He never showed us her great skill in TAR beyond having her "claim TAR as hers".

Only Moghedien and RJ know that she's not the best. She does have a Talent, and she did use it well. According to the BWB, Lanfear was a very powerful ally to the DO and not only because of her close association to LTT.

There is no proof of that the other Chosen don't know Moghedien is more skilled there. Hell, not a single good character in the books knows that Lanfear is so proficient in TAR. Birgitte shows more fear of Semirhage and Moghedien when talking about it in TAR with Nynaeve. Birgitte winds up talking about Moghediens skill at hiding in that conversation rather than warning Nynaeve how dangerous Lanfear is in TAR.

Which is more than the other Forsaken can claim. They are constantly frustrated that they don't know where Rand is. Lanfear's plot was to kill every other Forsaken and rule with Rand. She helps Rand most of the time. However, she's as evil and twisted as they come, with a delusion that he'll tag along. To realise her dream she caused a lot of trouble.

Still waiting to hear what she actually accomplished for the DO... she found Rand just like Ishamael did or Be'lal who lured him to Tear?

Her plot was no more impressive than her claim to TAR! She failed miserably, and was defeated by a "half-trained girl" with a fraction of her OP strength! Only Be'lal failed so spectacularly. Yeah she caused a lot of trouble, I mean the other FS had to attend a couple of meetings and listen to Graendal make fun of her... for the record, every one of the Forsaken has a plot to kill the others, so far her's was no more successful than the others have been!

Well I don't know, is Seanchan relevant? Tuon has declared herself Empress so for all intents and purposes the High Blood has a new home on the mainland.

Is the most powerful military machine relevant? Sure Tuon is now Empress, of what's on this side of the Ocean. The military machine back in Seanchan, including thousands of channelers, are completely unable to take part in T'G ... I'd say disabling one of the major military threats of your enemy is a pretty huge act.

Graendal's stealing of the Sharan rulers did much the same.

Aran'gar can barely use TAR. It's obviously not true that they all do whatever they want there.

That's the best you've got, that one of the weaker FS has poor skill in TAR? Which isn't exactly true either... Aran'gar only says she has trouble finding someones dreams if they aren't close. It's not like Lanfear made Aran'gar afraid to take certain actions in TAR or something. Just a personal lack of ability!

All the top 6 were roaming around TAR freely back in tFoH (Birgitte specifically mentions each of them) ... spying on each other etc... why didn't little miss "I've got a plot to kill them all" take some action against one of them for encroaching on her "realm"? Why didn't Birgitte tell us how odd it was that Lanfear wasn't taking action ... something to make the claim to TAR more realistic?

Dude, Moghedien extinguished the lamps. Myrddraal travel in shadows. When Moghedien realized that Graendal wasn't going to bow to the Nae'blis, she summoned SH but giving him a passage into Graendal's lair. Graendal interpreted it as an attack, but the other two just stood there.

The reason Moghedien Channeled is obvious. But they had to have realized how Graendal would have interpreted the action and been prepared for it. She had them disabled and at her mercy well before SH showed up ... so I guess them just standing there makes them stupid too.

Seriously, you are in a highly skilled very dangerous person's lair, you take an action that will certainly be seen as an attack and you just stand there doing nothing? If that's the case both Cyndane and Moghedien are morons.
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!
