and eat in shifts with 1000 Novices in the Tower... seems to me they are going to need more housing.
The kitchen was built to be used! It had to be closed only because the Tower is so pathetic. And eating in shifts is hardly unheard of in schools or similar places. IMO nothing here means that they can't cram all the novices into the Tower proper.
I'm sure someone here knows exactly how many novices the Tower was built to hold
