You have to understand that whenever you (or anyone else) argues that the characters are rounded characters with depth, there are a significant number of people who just don't see that. You can't "logically" convince people (myself included) that the characters are deep.
To a large degree, it's a matter of perception. I'm sure that a lot of it also has to do with points of reference. I suggested that maybe you don't read a lot of serious literature because that would affect the level of depth you hope to see in major characters in any book.

You know they're wrong (and, in that particular case, probably not mentally well), but you'll never convince them.
