One of the risks of having a massive, richly detailed fantasy world in your head- sometimes you know it so well, you forget other people don't.
It's why I'm a bit nervous about Sanderson's Way of Kings project- it sounds cool, and is massively ambitious, but this has basically been his baby since he first started writing. Hopefully he remembers that none of US have over 20 years of history with the thing...
