I actually think she has both skills at surviving in the real world and skills with certain channeling feats, but lacks the personal characteristics to put her in the uppermost echelons of an organization such as the Forsaken.
She is much more pragmatic and clear-cut in her thinking because of her personal quirks, and this leads her to mastering channeling skills favoring applying channeling abilities to real world applications.
For example, her use of Compulsion to punish Liandrin was masterful - minimal effort, no vast, mind-destroying bludgeon of Spirit, just a simple command and she made a much more deadly, problematic tool than any Sammael, Rahvin or Graendal had.
Another example, in the same scene, she used a complicated web to Shield Liandrin from the Source, which could only be undone by a Forsaken, which Liandrin was assured of not meeting by any ordinary occurrence.
Finally, she spied on a room full of Forsaken without being caught, and there were a number of heavy hitters who could have or should have noticed her. If she had a different mentality, she could have crushed one or more of them during their use of T'A'R, but she's always preferred to be less obvious.
She's one of the few Forsaken that I think is a real threat, because of her strategies. If she were a different type of person, she would have imprisoned Rand without him realizing it with a minimum of fuss - the only thing that prevented it were those pesky girls that protect him (said with an evil villains' voice). BTW did any of them ever let Rand know that they faced and imprisoned Moghedien? It would be one less thing for him to worry about.
