Min's is certainly the effects of Balefire darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 23/05/2010 09:39:30 PM
I assume that these are two separate attempts of the Dark One attempting to remake reality in His own image. He doesn't have the power to actually force his will on the world yet (as evidenced by how everything still exists) but he's testing the limits of his prison. After all, if he can exert enough influence on the world before TG, he doesn't have to worry about losing.

since it happens at the moment Rand Balefire's Natrin's Barrow. I'm just wondering if Faile's "ripples" were somehow from this event as well. Given how Balefire affects time it seems plausible that the "ripples" are a time-displaced side effect.

Nothing else really explains the "ripples" and it seems unlikely that the DO can touch the world that much at this point.
