I think of the TP and OP as opposites because they seem totally oppositional forces. One comes from the Creator and the other from the Dark One. Both can be used for fire, water, etc; both have weaves and Shielding and all that. Thinking about them, they fit neatly into the Ying/Yan thing. Saidin and Saidar are opposites within the Pattern, TP and OP are opposites within the greater scheme of the WoT universe... Since Rand and LTT are both separate and whole, I think they fit into it too...

They could indeed be said to be opposite forces in the sense that OP opposes TP. And many(though not all) of the things one can do, the other can also do. However I view them less as Yung/Yan and more as Matter/Antimatter. Remember that while saidin&saidar are opposed, they are also said to work together. I don't think this is true of OP&TP. I looked to see what had been said in interviews and found this:

Brandon Sanderson:

Matt: Ok, so, what is then the nature of the Dark One’s relationship with the True Power? In other words...is he the Power or it is separate like the One Power?
Brandon: When people bored into his prison they were searching for a new source of power, they found him. Alright? Now, that leaves a strong implication that the True Power is the essence of the Dark One. The True Power when it is used rips apart the Pattern to rebuild it as it desires. The True Power is very destructive to the Pattern. It leaves scars on the Pattern. Robert Jordan said in an interview or maybe it was actually in the books3, when you make a gateway with the True Power you are actually ripping a hole in the Pattern and going somewhere else. When you are using the True Power that is what you are doing, it is contrary to the Pattern. That is not a direct answer to your question but I think there are enough implications in there that certain things can be discussed.
[I realize now, after listening to Brandon’s answer that I was making an assumption about the One Power too, that it is separate from the Creator because of what we have been given in the books and the BWB, but I should have asked if instead the One Power is the essence of the Creator...]

It seems pretty obvious that TP is force very much opposed to the pattern and even using it causes harm. There are other quotes like that, and even in the book we have mention that the reality "screams" when Moridin uses TP to travel.

I could potentially see Rand using TP as a "loophole" to touch the DO and seal him that way without risking a taint, but beyond that I don't think TP is really in any way in "balance" with the OP or anything. Atleast not as far as the world we see in the books is concerned. We know virtually nothing about the true nature of the Creator/DO or what connection they have, so anything is pure speculation. But as far as the pattern is concerned, TP is poison.

I don't really suspect the Creator's voice of being phony, but it is fun to toss about... And I agree that Rand wouldn't need an alternate personality - nor would a crazy one be very helpful...

This is something that has been debated a lot. Is LTT the real, or is he a construct created by Rand's mind as a defense mechanism to hold the memories of his past life. Or perhaps even both. The memories themselves are obviously real and perhaps something arranged by the pattern to give Rand a boost. But the true nature of the LTT personality is still a bit of a mystery.
