And it was intended to be used against the DO. The AoLers didn't think saidin would be cleansed, so they gave him a pool of clean saidin.
with the revelation about the asha man forcing maybe being the way for men channelers.
and how the eye didn't really accomplish much i've been wondering for some time if it's sole purpose was to safely force rand to his maximum potential right off the bat.
i dont recall ever hearing him saying or thinking about becoming stronger at some point like we do with many the other channelers as their strength grows.
with all that saidin already being there and available im wondering if that was a way to bypass the need for a buffer. so the eye was in essence a single use sa'angreal with all the power already channeled into whatever form he found it in. but in this form it was already past whatever point the channeler would need a buffer so he was able to tap all of it safely. pushing him to his maximum potential from the get go.
and whats the next thing the pattern has in store for him? about a month later what does our dear hero use for a pillow? a portal stone, the need to channel huge amounts of the power in order for him to get ahead of the horn etc

Rand's two sides together - is the TGS scene the key to victory? As a man who uses a -sedai handle
