Going off of the quote that Rand recognizes the sword from his own memory, i would hesitate to accept the Rhuidean option because there he experienced other's memories. it would be akin to saying that Mat's knowledge of war was from his own memory rather than others.

he only options i can see are either the hero's of the horn, and then there would be the timing issue, OR Rand's memory of it came from his life's seen in the portal stones.

or a much more mundane answer like a book...
