While I'm sure WOT on TV would turn into something as bad as LOTS, it's not because it's not feasible. LOTS was not an adaption of SoT, from day one it was a Xena-style light Fantasy show inspired by the world and characters of SOT.
You could make a faithful adaptation of WOT on TV as a weekly show, and get to the end in 4-5 seasons. I just don't think there's enough of an audience for this sort of show to be made, and networks would be extremely reluctant to have a show with full continuity like this, that the audience must watch from the first episode. The few shows that managed it with success (eg: Lost) were aimed at a much larger audience.
Some stories are written to remain books. I tend to think it's the case with WOT. No series or movies will really make it justice as it's just too huge, slow paced and the scope is too big, and the sole interest to any adaptation would be the eye-candy of locations and such.
