Anyone want to guess which part can be a foreshadowing? redhand Send a noteboard - 05/09/2009 05:34:07 AM
It just feels wrong. Sorry. Maybe he gets better as the book goes on, but this is not the same. It's not bad, and it does not detract from the story, but it does not feel the same. I don't think it's going to matter. I still enjoyed reading the chapter, and I have every intention of reading the book the day it comes out, with not one less ounce of anticipation. But it is not RJ's writing, for those of you to whom such things matter.

The style is so ... different. We are so used to what RJ wrote, it would be hard to pick up if the few points are intended as foreshadowing, or just not so smooth writing.

But there is one thing I like about this new style. It is more blunt about the prospect of the Light. RJ has been spreading the hints so wide, that a casual observer would say the DR is making nice progress, and winning the fight so far.

But the other side of the coin is, this chapter almost sounds like an analysis or a theory post from a fan site, written by maybe Cannoli or Sidious, since it contains so many quotes from various books. It sounds really weird to me. It sounds almost like Brandon is trying to specifically settle a few outstanding theories from fandom. Not subtle at all, like a giant hammer coming at you.
