i got one pick wrong imlad Send a noteboard - 09/03/2010 05:38:49 PM
We filled out picks for a drawing with one of the local theatres, and my picks all came out right, except for Best Actress. I picked Mirrin over Bullock.

Thats actually one of the best records I've had in years.

Just really surprised Bullock won (not really a fan of hers, although that movie about drug rehab was pretty decent); happy for her. Now I have to watch her movie.

Best supporting actor:
Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds. Maybe not surprising, but so deserved. A performance that will be remembered for years.

Best animated feature film:
Up, of course. Also expected and deserved.

Best song:
T Bone Burnett: "The weary kind" from Crazy Heart.

Best original screenplay:
The hurt locker. Excellent.

Best animated short:
Logorama.

Best documentary short:
Music by Prudence.

Best live action short:
The new tenants.

Best make up:
Star Trek! And Ben Stiller looked great presenting as Na'vi.

Best adapted screenplay:
Precious. Not the kind of film I'd ever be interested in seeing, but hey, that guy seemed very nice.

Best supporting actress:
Mo'Nique for Precious. I cheered for Kendrick from Up in the air.

Art direction:
Avatar! Couldn't be anything else.

Costume design:
The young Victoria.

Sound editing:
The hurt locker.

Sound mixing:
The hurt locker. Bit of a surprise that Avatar got beaten in technical awards.

Cinematography:
Avatar!

Best original score:
Michael Giacchino for Up. Which I found somewhat depressing. But some people said that about the whole film. But hey I love his work for Lost :P

Visual effects:
Avatar of course.

Best documentary feature:
The cove. Seemed like an important point to make for the poor dolphins.

Film Editing:
The hurt locker.

Best foreign language film:
The secret in their eyes, Argentina.

Best actor in a leading role:
Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart. He has been brilliant for decades, so can't go wrong with that. He actually talks like The Dude, man!

Best actress in a leading role:
Sandra Bullock. That's a bit of a surprise, she has not exactly been known for very deep roles. Too bad it's a football film.

Best director:
Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker, first woman to ever win this award. Has been doing a great job for years, so good for her.

Best film:
The hurt locker! Quite the surprise, but definitely worthy!

That's 6 awards for The hurt locker, 3 for Avatar, 2 for Up, Crazy Heart and Precious. Great results!
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
