The main question I have after the episode is why not Kate. She was one of the few we know who were touched by Jacob at some point in their life. However, we know that Hurley and Sayyid were touched after the initial crash during their three years off the island. So I'm not sure, did they only become candidates after being touched, or does being touched provide some sort of safety on the island, or the power to reach the island.
As to the numbers, were there other numbers on the wall other than 4,8,15,16,23,42? I didn't see. It would be interesting to know what the numbers signify on the wall. I wasn't sure if the other crossed out names also had one of the mystical numbers, as if that is why jacob chose them, because they fit into the magical numbers which made them a candidate. Or did it just so happen that the 6 still alive were our magic numbers. If someone could clear that up for me, thank you
As I said to Comet, according to wiki Shanon was number 31 and is now crossed through. I wonder if you had to die to get eliminated or if you could fail in other ways as well.
The mystery of Kate not being a candidate remains.

I found the episode to be pretty exciting, but mostly because it was Smokey's POV. *NM*
