Monthly / Weekly Movie or TV discussions, anyone? - Edit 1

Raserei pointed me towards this idea that I had been toying with for a while already as well, so why not ask the community?
If the book club can discuss literature each month, why shouldn't we pick a film to talk about every other week? In times of netflix and postal DVD renting it should be easy for everyone who is interested to get and watch a certain film in time.
I remember we did this for a few weeks at wotmania a few years ago, I am not sure why we stopped.
The question is, how do we pick them? Classics, recently released stuff or rather unknown gems?
We'll continue to have extra threads for new blockbusters like Avatar, but the amount of movies everyone runs to see have become less over the years, I feel.
Since we already have weekly discussions for a couple of current shows we probably would not add recent TV series, but why not discuss a season or episode of something that was a huge hit 10 years ago?
What do you guys think? Would this work? Even without the gruesome idea of "homework", most people would probably still remember the film anyway and could easily participate in discussion spontaneously.
Let us know if you like the idea and under which terms
