That neither side is "good"
Just looking at alternate-reality-Locke is enough reason for me to not like Jacob.
I don't understand why his father is a good guy in this life though (Locke is still with Helen, so his relationship with his father wasn't terrible, and I doubt he's in a wheelchair due to being pushd out of a window). We know of some contact that would never have happened, I just don't see how it changed things that significantly. I'm thinking of Richard. Richard would have never met Locke as a child or as a teenager, because Locke would never have been on the island to time travel.
