Yeah some people think that Angels are envious of us because we have souls and free will. It could be that Michael is lying for his own purposes. Or maybe he does have a good read on God's plans. Personally, I don't think God divulges his plans to anybody, even his own Angels. It will be interesting to find out where God is and what He has been doing.

I certainly hope so. Them saying yes is the big evil of the season that they're trying so hard to avoid... and I love it when the inevitable evil thing happens anyways despite all the valiant efforts to stop it.
HOWEVER, what would really suck is if they both say yes and then the big showdown between Michael and Lucifer is just a fist fight between sam & dean in a motel, that ends with someone just getting knocked out so they can go back to hunting ghosts next season... what I mean to say is thatif they say yes, the writers and producers really need to do the ensuing battle justice by making it an all out throwdown with lots of special effects and kick ass cinematography. Anything less would be a let down of epic proportions.
This has always been the last season for the plan developed by the creator, Eric Kripke. He said in an interview that their is some material for any seasons after this, but this is the final season for the main story arc. So this could be the last season. I love Supernatural but I hate it when shows drag themselves out too long (see Smallville). SN is in its prime and we should get a mega-ending.
