Raimi was set to direct it, but definitely not until after SPIDER-MAN 4 and maybe not until after 5 and 6 as well. With Raimi walking, I believe that makes the WoW movie his next project, assuming no changes in his attitude or direction.
This is going to be a big test of the public's tolerance for remakes and reboots. Only five years between the last version of the franchise and its reboot? That's pretty heinous. BATMAN did it in eight, but only because Joel Schumacher had completely destroyed the franchise and there was no way back from that. SPIDER-MAN 3 was bad but it wasn't quite that bad.
