I generally approve. There were a few things that irked me, but I won't object too much.
I wish they could have resisted using Irene Adler as a romantic foil, and the deductions Watson makes from the watch is lifted from a book where Holmes make them in order to astonish Watson.
Also Holmes is always described as impeccably dressed (unless dressing to hide who he is).
None of these were fatal, though. I am not convinced it was entirely Sherlock Holmes, but it was an entertaining movie. I laughed out loud quite a lot.
I confess I doubted they would stick to the rational solutions at one point (when Holmes appeared to attempt the black arts in desperation), but I should have had more faith.

I believe it is a convention of the rhetorical question that an answer is not actually invited.

It made it's budget back in the opening weekend. I'd say a sequel is innevitable now. *NM*

Well they were shamelessly plugging a sequel in the last 5 minutes, so I expected no less

It's a good one. If you only have the budget for one movie, pick this one over Avatar.

Just saw this tonight. It might well be one of the only good movies released in 2009.
