Yeah, it was okay, but it was always going to be near impossible to be as good as Blue Harvest *NM*

FG: SSSD, for those who don't know, is the retelling of The Empire Strikes Back done Family Guy style with the characters from Family Guy portraying the characters from Star Wars. It is the follow up to "Blue Harvest" which was the original Star Wars done the same way.
Short Review: It's not that good, especially when compared to Blue Harvest (which is gold). It suffered from major pacing issues and a limited time to tell the story (and include the jokes they wanted) which is weird since it went straight to DVD. Why they kept it to 45 minutes, I don't know..anyways on with the review.
Where as "Blue Harvest" kept fantastic pacing and cut enough out to insert some great jokes and gags, SSSD took out even more, but threw in jokes that were less than funny. Pretty much every scene with Yoda in it was absolutely terrible. He was played by Carl from the convenience store and pretty much just played a Frat Boy Force Trainer. It just didn't work.
Another problem I have is that they brought "gay" Stewie into this one. They made it all the way through BH without playing on that, but it was pretty much all Darth Stewie talked about and hinted at. Evil Stewie is always better than 'gay' Stewie and would have suited Darth Stewie much better.
It wasn't all bad though. There were some good moments and some good gags in this one. Peter's archnemesis, the Chicken, shows up and while there isn't a fight, you know there is going to be one in the next one. Some of the stuff on Hoth is great. Also, there are enough other jokes that are pretty good not to make the whole thing suck balls.
I don't know if my main dislike is just disappointed because I expected too much, but the pacing was very off in this one and about half the jokes or more weren't very funny. But it is the story of Empire told in about 45 minutes, so what can you really expect.

I have nothing to add. I just wanted to be included in this thread.

I pretty much agree. It was OK but not great or even above average. *NM*

It wasn't as good as Blue Harvest, but it's not the end of the world. *NM*

Thoroughly agree. Especially about Stewie, in this in particular & on the show in general
