I tried, but I really never could stand Mehta. I was afraid that I'd end up with an Iron Chef I didn't like, which would really anger me. I love that show, partly because it's not about interpersonal drama.

I already have an IC that I can't stand, but I still watch his battles because I love watching him lose
Yes, Simon impressed me too. My hubby commented at one point how it was interesting that the chefs (who actually DO what they were judging the contestants on) seemed to have a totally different take on things than the critics did, and how their opinion should really carry more weight.
