SF was invented (kind of) by Mary Shelley. It's most award-laden authors are women (Lois McMaster Bujold & Connie Willis). The success of STAR TREK is almost equally equated with Dorothy Fontana as it is with Gene Roddenberry. Leigh Brackett wrote THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and did rewrites on the original STAR WARS movie.
Women have been playing a major role in SF from the beginning. I note the OP of that article seems ignorant of that fact, which means is very ignorant of the basic realities and history of the science fiction genre. Why therefore would anyone take his statement seriously?
