I really didn't remember the movie as being so sad. I went to see it in the theater on its release. I haven't thought about it since I'm sure. Yesterday my wife picked it up from a clearance bin for two dollars. She said she was thinking it was a robot movie from Steven Spielberg not a depressing moralistic tale. At the end of the movie, our 14 YO son, who watched it with us, shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, it was happier than Atonement." That's not saying much.
So have you watched anything recently that was much different than you remember it being? Any thoughts on AI?

I know a lot of people dislike the ending, but it made sense to me.
Hmm, I can't say I watched anything lately that I felt very different about. But I know I liked The Dark Crystal as a kid, but last time, a few years ago, I was so bored I fell asleep. It's mostly movies from my youth where I sometimes think "hmm, maybe I've grown out of it" by now.

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

I loathe that movie. I piss on it and everything in its message.
