I wanted to like Vampire Diaries, but its a pale comparison to True Blood. I like Cougar Town. It really is remarkable how much better shows on cable can be that don't have to subscribe to network standards. They should get rid of network standards and just give ratings to everything and let parents decide what their children can watch after 8pm EST.
with the "EST" I think you touch upon the problem with that: 8pm EST is 6pm Mountain time and 5 PM Pacific. I have to admit I've never quite understood how that works anyway, but the logical conclusion would be it's impossible to just go with the "late on the evening you can show anything, if kids see it it's their parents fault" line that European channels can use.
Mountain and Pacific both start their shows at 8pm local time.

I don't know why they think Castle will draw particularly well against MNF... silly.

Cougar Town is amusing. Not as good as United States of Tara or Weeds, though.

Dollhouse needs a new network. I'm sure that ABC or CBS, even NBC, could make this show popular.

If FOX drops it, I think its best chance for ratings success would by the SyFy Channel.
