View original postHave to say, ever since I read the books (after having seen the first movie), it's been the third movie that I wanted to see - although I believe they said something about cutting it in two? So third and fourth, then. I want to see if they dare to be as brutal, ruthless and generally over the top as the book is.
Yeah it's a very questionable tendency lately. I haven't read the books but generally speaking a final chapter can hardly ever just be split in two and still have the same dramatic punch as one film. It worked much better than expected for Harry Potter, though. And splitting films makes double the money so I guess it's here to stay.
I hope I can stay away from spoilers until the film(s) come out, because to be honest I have no idea whatsoever where the final act could be going now after this somewhat shocking ending. I hope / think there is no way they'll have another round of regular Hunger Games, though.

Yep - saw it now, and going to stick with "the movie is better than the book".

After seeing it, I remain convinced that the series is 2.5 books too long.

Your assessment of the last two books is surprisingly accurate for someone who hasn't read them.
