Stories need to keep moving and very seldom are long action scenes done in a way that keeps the story moving. I can't imagine it would be any easier with sex scenes that long. To be honest thought the only movies I have seen with sex scenes that long never really had a much of plot. 
Or perhaps boring is not the word, but you know, making you wonder how much longer it was going to go on - as you say, the story needs to keep moving. It probably wasn't quite 10 minutes, anyway. Just longer than pretty much any other sex scene I've ever seen in a mainstream or even arthouse movie.
