The real tension of the show revolved around the concept of "Who is Don Draper?" He had secrets, he tried to keep them hidden, they could have been dangerous if used the right way, etc. Despite this, he routinely pushed what he could get away with, personally and professionally.

Now it has just become "a show about ad people in New York in the 1960s". That is making it boring, though obviously it never had a soap-opera style of development.

I know enough real people in New York with more interesting things going on than what they show in Mad Men these days...
