Because all the commercials I've seen for it have just been poor people down here, rich people out there, Matt Damon, go kick some ass and be awesome for a few hours. And I've already seen that movie, and it's not an appealing prospect.

The basic economics, the sci-fi, is very shallow and not well developed.
Instead the sci-fi is just the delivery mechanism for the action. It gets you from point A to B so you get to see the action which is point C.
Problem is the final endpoint, point C is kinda mediocre and thus the movie in my mind is mediocre.
