I've been watching this show, and I still am not sure what I think about it. But here's what goes through my mind as I watch it, almost every episode:
They aren't ANGRY enough. These aliens came to Earth, and their machines pretty much destroyed everything Earth was - and then there was war.. but now everyone is like "Ok, this is the way things are now... oh well. Oh look, my neighbor is one of the aliens that helped destroy my planet. Hi neighbor!"
I mean, yes, this is an exaggeration, but come on.
We already have Falling Skies for a show about fighting back the aliens and Revolution about power struggles of different factions after electricity went off. I would have lost interest very quickly if Defiance would have gone in the same direction.
I really enjoy the amalgam of different aliens and humans and them somehow trying to live together. The characters start growing on me and I am glad the show is already renewed for Season 2. I like it.
You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
