It's fine enough summer viewing, not the best but not the worst either. I do feel that it isn't quite reaching it's potential and is slightly inconsistent.
I agree about it being nice that the father and son get along. It's become something of a cliché that anything associated with Spielberg that features a father and son must have them in conflict with each other. I was expecting this to be the same and was pleasantly surprised when this was not the case.
