As for Mandarin, I have no clue since I never read any of the comics, but wikipedia says he is of mixed Chinese and English ancestry, born in China prior to the Communist revolution. That said, all I can think of when I hear the name is the color orange, so it is quite hard to find him threatening or take him seriously. I'll be one happy viewer if the movie mentions that point.
So what's the deal with the Mandarin in Iron Man?
