I only watched Thor and Ironman 1.
I felt the movie relied too heavily on previous movies to make the viewer care about the characters. I mean, this is not truly a sequel to any of those other movies in the franchise so it should be 'required' viewing. So I guess it boils down to not caring about the characters, and as a result being bored by the action.
Also felt the action was way too cartoonish.
The villains were boring. Locky was a cardboard version of Locky from Thor.
Add to this a boring plot. It was pretty much:
1.let's gather this super team of heroes
2.let them fight each other.
3.fight bad guys.
That's not a plot.

I amuse myself.
