Perhaps not to the extent you did, though some of your points are also ones that occurred to me, but mostly I just couldn't get it out of my head that this same movie could have been made with Silver as the protagonist, out to get revenge on the corrupt bureaucrats who betrayed him to the enemy after he'd dedicated his life to his country. I don't really watch much action movies, but I'm certain that this exists.

I was also pretty bewildered at the notion that this movie was defending the importance of national secret services and frankly, I have no idea who this argument was aimed at. Aside from the most idealistic pacifists - ideological outliers - I've never heard this idea proposed. Was this just trying to please people in an echo chamber?

As for the movie itself, it was a good action movie. But I've been disappointed with James Bond himself in all the Daniel Craig movies. After the absurdity of late Brosnan, a pendulum shift back into seriousness was inevitable, but there's such a lack of levity or charm in these movies that I don't really know why this should be different from any other action movie.

And Daniel Craig's James Bond always reminds me of Red Grant, one of the villains of From Russia with Love. I cannot unsee it.
