He deserves the acclaim for what he is, and what he accomplished, but he is not influential (as I define the word). He did not influence, he simply showed that the previously assumed limits did not apply... "If that hack George can do THAT, just wait till they see what I can do!"


"He didn't influence anyone, he just showed them what was possible and formed the company that was directly responsible for an industry-wide shift toward newer, better visual effects."

I mean ... hmm. I'm just not sure what to say to that. It's like saying Steve Jobs shouldn't be given any credit for the success of Apple, because he only came up with the ideas and told other people what to do.
