I mean, Bane was FLABBERGASTED that he got out. This was Not Part of the Plan. Despite the fact that an 8 year old girl did it.
So all those pre-adolescent girls competing in gymnastics at the Olympics means ANYONE should be capable of matching their feats of agility? Maybe climbing a crumbly wall is doable for a kid who's weight is double digits at most, but a guy who weighs, to borrow from another Batman film, "a little more than a hundred and eight"? Not so much. Second: What was Bane and Talia's endgame? Just to run out the clock, and die together? I mean, I get that the goal is to draw out Batman's suffering. But their plan seems kind of... anticlimactic.
As near as I can tell, if Batman hadn't broken out of the Pit, the plan was to just hang out, and then when the timer ran out, Gotham was destroyed. That's it. Which, fine, Gotham's gone, that's the goal, but why wait for the timer?

Who says they would have? They only waited for the timer, because Bruce had broken out. Who says they weren't going to bail at the last minute if they were not trying to put down a police counter-attack and fight Batman in the last minutes?

Eh. The "political message" was a sham, a smokescreen. There wasn't one.

Well, his goal is despair. It'd be even more effective if there was a guard at the top.
