It was having the people opposed to the corruption and decadence of the elite rich and powerful in Gotham be the ones who were the bad guys, and use those tactics. The politics of the movie actually come off as Glenn Beck's persecuted belief of what the Occupy movement was all about. Beck warned the rich last year that the Occupiers were going to drag them from their homes and kill them. Well, what happens in Gotham when Bane "liberates" the people? The city gets occupied, and the rich and powerful get dragged from their homes and killed.
This is what bothered me.
The vast majority of those opposed to the power the 1%ers have in this country would NEVER resort to such methods. This movie just played into the deranged ideals of Beck, Limbaugh and such ilk.
I found it offensive that the writers had the people so easily manipulated by a false prophet of liberty like Bane was in this movie, and talked into the use of violence alongside escaped violent criminals.

You really want them to be painted as anything other than bad guys after that?
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
Dark Knight Rises anyone?

Eh. The "political message" was a sham, a smokescreen. There wasn't one.

Well, his goal is despair. It'd be even more effective if there was a guard at the top.
