A man who does bad things, does a good thing and brings balance to Force as a whole? It just doesn't make any sense. (Not to mention, post-ROTJ, Luke begins building up Jedi and then Sith resurface and the galaxy is in conflict again just years later -- extended universe.)

That's like if Osama Bin Laden rescued a kitten hit by a car and somebody said he brought balance to terrorism.

Now, don't get me wrong, Lucas is just screwed up enough to have implied it as you see it, but it shouldn't be right.
