The ending really was utterly horrendous. It was illogical, riven with plot holes, relied on weak and terrible characterisation and was inconsistent with everything the show had shown us over four years (such as no-one in the fleet being able to agree on anything, let alone quietly throwing away all of their technology, medicines, science, learning etc).
Then of course we had the writers' attempt to actually use real science in the show (after four years of not really bothering) with the mitochondrial eve stuff which they clearly did not even begin to understand and totally screwed up.
