It happened a little bit differently. Sir Dontos was there, trying to help by thrown a melon at Sansa so that she wouldn't be beaten. Cersei is there, and tells Joffrey to not kill Sansa because the Starks will then kill Jaime. Although the TV scene was a bit shorter (and Timett wasn't there), it was pretty close to the book.
