I'm bored with most American television nowadays, and there is practically no good genre (fantasy or SF) shows left in the US that I haven't already watched (can't stand that SyFy show Sanctuary, and Haven has no interest for me).

I've been watching a lot of British television shows the past year or so, and have found I enjoy them quite a bit.

Now I am looking for some more British shows (genre or not, it doesn't matter) to watch. I'm also looking for some suggestions of good Canadian shows (or any other English language shows that aren't American in origin). I'm not really that into comedies (at least the American style of 30 minute sit-coms, just BLECH!!), nor into horror. Fantasy or SF elements are always appreciated, but not necessary.

(BTW: I know quite a lot of the shows aired in the US are actually made in British Columbia, but I am considering them "American" for the purpose of this thread. Looking for shows that are aired with the non-American audience in mind.)

Also, I'm not including BBC(CBC)/HBO(or other premium cable) joint venture shows (like Rome, The Tudors, etc) in this thread.

British shows I've seen and enjoyed:

Spooks (MI5) -- one of my favorite shows of all time!!

Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes -- genius, pure genius

Sherlock

Luther

Death in Paradise -- just plain fun, and such beauty to look at

Primeval

Hustle

Doctor Who -- never really liked it until this past year when I watched the entire rebooted show, WOW!!

Torchwood

Merlin

Robin Hood

Canadian shows I've watched and enjoyed:

Highlander the series (planning on rewatching this someday)

Lost Girl

So, anyone got some good suggestions??
