Osha takes their place as guides to the north, Bran takes the place of their greensight (he's already usurped Jojen's dream about the sea coming to Winterfell), and they find some other way to ditch Rickon.

But that assumes that neither they nor Osha has an important future role where they are in the books, which I find hard to believe. The other option is that they didn't have time to introduce the Reeds here and Bran/Rickon/Hodor/Osha will meet the two of them on the road somewhere.

The problem is the ditching Rickon. Rickon needs a protector and Osha is his protector in the books. Remember at the end of book 5 the search for Rickon is going to be important now that Davos is looking for him. (Davos is looking for Rickon to get Lord Manderly, the Frey eater, to swear services to Stannis which Lord Manderly says he would do if you can return the starks aka Rickon to Winterfell.)

...those are decisions the show creators couldn't just make on their own. Even with the latest book and the following ones many seasons away we are already seeing things that Martin had to tell the writers more about. I find that very fascinating and it may sometimes even give you an idea about who is important and who isn't. Either they are meeting the Reeds on the road or everything they do and say can be done by other characters.

... are actors. If they didn't feel that Tonks would be willing to stay in the role when her character skips three books, that might make them more likely to change things around. Depending on what they know from Martin, it might be very easy to give Rickon a different protector and send Osha north with Bran and Hodor to fill the Reeds' role.
