Do you enjoy watching foreign movies? Animated or live-action?

Occasionally. They often tend to discuss themes I have no interest in or preach too much for me taste. Rarely animated.

What are your all time favorites?

La vita e bella, Amelie, Das Boot, Lola rennt, Princess Mononoke, Crouching tiger hidden dragon.


Which cultures (nations) films do you find yourself most interested in?

Well, one should think I could easily relate to European themes, but they often bore me to death. So it's actually the good old US of A again.


Do you prefer dubs over original language, in live-action and/or animated?

I've grown up with dubs, and now on DVDs I prefer watching the originals, but that goes for English films where I understand most anyway. If I don't understand a word I still prefer dubs.


How did you find yourself becoming interested in foreign films, (i.e. Audrey Tautou obsession, Asian horror obsession, general interest in foreign culture)?

I just check out those that get good reviews and sound interesting to me. I skip the majority of European (Not counting UK), Asian, Indian films, though.


What 'hyped' foreign film has let you down upon viewing it (if any)?

I wanted to dislike Amelie but it was impossible.


How do you feel about remakes, are there any that have been pulled off successfully?

Often unnecessary. An example of a better remake than original is Insomnia, which kicks its Norwegian original's ass in pretty much every regard.
