So, a movie where a serial killer is on the loose who is taking inspiration for his murders from Edgar Allan Poe's most famous stories.
An interesting premise ... but I have one big issue. The protagonist who's chasing this killer. Edgar Allan Poe himself.
WTF?
I don't know ... by the publication of most of Poe's famous works, his wife was dying and he was becoming consumed by Alcoholism. Ultimately, he's one of the most tragic figures in history. And he's about to be portrayed as a super-action hero in a movie.
I don't know why, I just don't like it. Couldn't it be a later detective using secret ciphers that Poe had made (he was an amateur cryptologist), and using that to solve some mystery that somehow involved all these other stories they're trying to throw in.
You can check out the reviews. Some glowing ones, some complete trashing style reviews. It's got a 6.9 rating, which is pretty poor.

I have no problem with them taking real persons as characters in stories inspired by them
