So as we all know Karen Gillan is leaving Doctor Who this year so it is interesting that the powers that be have made their announcement before any of this season has been broadcast. The actress who will be taking the role of the Doctor's companion is Jenna Louise Coleman, formerly of ITV soap Emmerdale. She will first appear in the Christmas special.
There will be five regular season episodes with Gillan leaving in the fifth, an episode which will feature the Weeping Angels.
