I find the tensions between the characters and what the situation does to them personally and to society as a whole to be just as exciting as the action scenes. Maybe that's why I didn't mind the rather restricted setting of the farm at all this season.
But as I understand it most of the story was planned out before the budget cuts. And if I wanted to see a love triangle in the most ridiculous circumstances imaginable I'd just tune into a daytime soap. The snow's called "The Walking Dead" not "The Hoe Down Bitchfest."
