It definitely leaves an impression. It is slicker than the other movies. The acting, again, varies. Kristen Stewart is very good. Billy Burke is excellent. Robert Pattison comes out of his coma, which isn't to say he's good, but at least he wasn't entirely sleep-walking. Taylor Lautner's efforts, unfortunately, took a turn for the worse. I thought he was quite good in the 2nd movie. Here, eh. Stood out as the worst. (Edward is in his own category. It's actually funny, and the movie acknowledges that. Funniest moments: all of Billy Burke's reaction shots, a few of Edward's reaction shots, and the Renesme bit.)

I know what you mean about coming out of his coma. Unfortunately it's still not all of the time. It was much the same way in the books, those stressful moments in Breaking Dawn are the only moment that Edward's character is interesting... which leads one to think it may not really be Pattinson's fault.

I definitely wasn't particularly impressed by Lautner, but had been expecting worse. But then, I don't think I've seen the second movie. And yes, I liked Billy Burke - and Sarah Clarke, too.
The movie. A few corny scenes. Wolves talking telepathically the worst by far. But I was pleasantly surprised. Overall it's more professional. The movie divides into 2 distinct parts: very romantic (yes, very romantic; best that they've managed so far, and sole credit goes to Kristin Stewart for that; ok, also the soundtrack). 2nd part: straight up horror. I gasped and had my hand covering my mouth most of the time. It's scary, and disturbing, and holy crap. Also, sad. Jacob should have emoted more. I'm not saying anything about Edward. But I certainly felt very sad when *spoiler* Bella dies. And don't get me started on the demon spawn. I know I've read a few science fiction/fantasy books about creatures like that. Her instinctive first act out of the womb is to compel all those around her into protecting her, at whatever cost. But I didn't hate it, even though I was horrified at what it was doing.

The wolves' scene at the river where Jacob rebels against Sam really had me wincing. Maybe it was like in the book too and I just don't remember, but the whole "I'm the grandson of a tribe leader, I'm above you" part struck me as extremely, well, dare I say un-American as well as unsympathetic. :P

And yeah, there's some horror alright... best scene in that aspect: when Bella's first drinking blood through a straw, and then says it tastes good, with blood-stained teeth.

They might have made things a little clearer regarding Bella's fate... they go from Edward getting desperate that she's dead and his venom isn't working, to a very brief scene indicating she has a heartbeat again after all - but all the same they put her in a rather dead-like pose until she wakes up in the final shot. Confusing. I was really disappointed that they left Bella's reaction to Jacob's imprinting for the next movie - but then, that second half of the book was so weak that the final movie will need all the good character moments it can get, so probably a smart move.
There were definitely guys in the theatre, btw. I think it's very much worth seeing. The pregnancy from hell really makes it different. I thought it was the best of the Twilight movies so far.

*nods* I enjoyed it well enough, certainly don't regret seeing it.
