Ugh. I didn't notice the roads, but it wouldn't have bothered me if I did. I like accuracy and attention to detail in documentaries, but not in shows made solely for entertainment. I guess scifi-fantasy people are little more picky about this sort of thing than I am. I am glad they worked toward a resolution for the father/son "I hate you"/"you will respect me" crap. If this ends up being a side plot throughout the season, I will stop watching it.
edit: and in response to the comment above about the father being too cliche, but not the son: to an older person the son was annoyingly cliche. MUCH moreso than the father. It's all a matter of perspective, I suppose.

To be fair, the son wasn't all that original either, but I liked his journey in the episode better than the dad's.
I don't mean to be overly critical of the show - I watched it all the way through and it was somewhat entertaining. But it is Fox, who probably doesn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on foliage for the SUVs to drive over repeatedly.
And yeah, I hope the father and son mend their bridge relatively soon. Such a sideplot works for a few episodes, not a season.
Terra Nova. Pilot. Sigh.

I was pleasantly surprised by how they handled the time travel thing.
