My problem was not so much with the cybermen as with Craig. I just cannot get into him. And I really, really hate it when they make cheap sentimental points to get out of a tricky situation (I blew them up with love) -- everything so far has suggested you get chopped into pieces when the cybermen assimilate you; here that had to be changed without any really good reason. And it reminded me of the Gatiss Dalek episode, which is not good.
Cybermen are basically rubbish, for me anyway. Overloading their emotional circuits works as well as anything I guess, since I don't really care about them. I like how Craig and the Doctor interact, though.
I did like the Doctor's part in this. But I wish he could have played off someone else. And Craig did serve as a good foil in trying to interrogate the shop employee Doctor style.
Craig was a good candidate to have a baby, and having the Doctor at the end of his life interact with a baby was pretty good, I think.
And I liked how he was not going to get involved, and then he did.
Me too.
Yes. I do wonder how they will make their way around the ``fixed point'' stuff, though. And which Doctor we are dealing with. He wore Tweed by the lake. He was still wearing the coat (the wonderful, wonderful coat) yesterday (and seems to have been wearing it for 200 years). I wonder whether that is significant.
I noticed that by the time he's at the lake in The Impossible Astronaut, he's wearing the tweed jacket and a blue bow tie. He was wearing the long coat and a red bow tie when he left Craig. Only the hat translated between the two. I wonder if that's significant, or if he just changes clothes sometimes now. Throughout the season he occasionally had a blue bow tie and other times a red one. I can't make that fit with the ganger theory though (the present Doctor had a blue bow tie before gangers ever showed up), so I don't know if it means anything.
My main problem with the ganger Doctor theory is that he has a Tardis. But the reasoning seems sensible. And to be fair, the Doctor in America had a car.
I'm thinking the real Doctor let him use the TARDIS while the real Doctor was doing something else. The ganger then returned the TARDIS before going out there in a car. If not, if that's the real Doctor there in the hat, then he must have done something with the TARDIS before going out there. Would he hide it somewhere? Would he program it to go to River after he dies?
